Marine Transportation

The course content focuses on academic and practical skills in the field of maritime logistics and plant engineering. The emphasis is on developing an integrated understanding of administration, economics and logistics. Consequently, students acquire sound practical and decision-making skills in dealing with economic and administrative issues. They learn key administrative contexts and processes from both a business and a regulatory perspective and gain an understanding of structures, procedures, and systems.

Key focus: Administration and Business
The economic component focuses on understanding financial flows, decision-making criteria for procurement, maintenance, and renewal of facilities and equipment, as well as retrofit measures. Students learn to develop, implement, manage, and evaluate project-specific tasks. They understand the essential importance of human capital and gain in-depth knowledge of various types of business organizations.

Key focus: Logistics
In the logistics component, logistics and technology are integrated. Students learn the fundamentals of the seaworthiness of maritime vessels, how they are loaded, and the requirements that must be considered during unloading. They gain knowledge of environmental regulations and their interdisciplinary significance in relation to logistics, and they learn the various cargo handling techniques and port equipment required for cargo handling. Students understand the interrelationships in international transport, supply chains, logistics processes, and dependencies. 

Cross-functional skills
In addition, they develop personal and social skills as well as intercultural competencies and become familiar with recognized business management procedures and strategies in the context of maritime transport science and economics. Students are equipped to navigate the English-speaking business world with confidence and conduct negotiations. 

The program is supplemented and rounded out by additional key knowledge and skills in the field of law. The primary focus here is on understanding the legal foundations, acquiring knowledge of regulations, their application and interpretation, and navigating complex, rapidly changing international legal systems. Additionally, they gain advanced proficiency in the German language and a comprehensive understanding of intercultural contexts.

The main benefits of the program include an excellent study program in Indonesia and Germany followed by global employment opportunities in government agencies and institutions, port operations, shipping companies, shipyards, and maritime service providers, as well as transportation and freight forwarding companies and commercial enterprises.

For this program, ITS charges tuition fees of IDR 30,000,000 per semester for all four semesters. 

But even so, the total amount is no higher than for other four-semester degree programs that are held entirely in Germany. 

Estimating the overall costs of the programme

The following is an overview of the estimated costs. The figures are indicative and may vary depending on the duration of study and individual circumstances. The costs of living include accommodation, entertainment, transport, food and other personal expenses. For Germany, it is based on the required blocked account amount for foreign students. For Indonesia, data based on the experiences of Indonesian students was used.
