Kathleen Hoffmann, a member of staff in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Process and Environmental Engineering, gave a guided tour of the garden in Malchow on the island of Poel on Thursday, 10 July 2026, with great dedication and enthusiasm. She introduced visitors to numerous herbs, their effects and their traditional uses.

As well as interesting facts, participants received practical tips on making teas, ointments and tinctures. It was particularly impressive that the plants could not only be looked at, but also touched, smelled and tasted. Edible flowers were also sampled, making the tour – which concluded with a delicious mint tea – a special experience of nature.

The event was characterised by an open and lively atmosphere. Participants from North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse showed great interest, asked numerous questions and enriched the tour with their own experiences and tips.

Kathleen Hoffmann brought the world of medicinal herbs to life in a knowledgeable yet warm and engaging way, inspiring a desire to apply the knowledge gained in one’s own daily life.
