In the last week of September (23–25 September), the Maritime University of Szczecin hosted the 21st Marine Traffic Engineering Conference – MTE’26, as is traditional. The conference brings together academics and researchers from various fields of maritime and marine research and development to present their latest research and for exchanging ideas on current issues.

Among the participants from Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and others, this year’s conference also included colleagues from DLR Institute of Communication and Navigation in Neustrelitz and our university.

Prof. Baldauf from the Department of Maritime Studies, System Engineering and Logistics presented the results of joint research with Istanbul Technical University in his lecture. The research, which builds on earlier joint work started at the WMU, involved the development and adaptation of innovative methods for identifying and assessing risks in socio-technical systems. A key focus is the interaction between stakeholders within the maritime transport system, which is also currently the subject of ongoing research projects (EBAS and Leas-Pro) at the Warnemünde-based ISSIMS Institute.
