First steps

At the Wismar Academic Sailing Club (Akademischer Segelverein Wismar e.V.), you can just come along for a sail or, of course, get properly involved and, for example, obtain your sailing licence.

Wismar University of Applied Sciences offers a wide range of sports activities. There is also the option to offer further sports courses as a sports instructor. 
As a student at our Warnemünde campus, you can make use of the sports facilities offered by the University of Rostock.

Always worth a visit: the beaches on Poel Island are easily accessible by bike, and whilst you’re there, you should also pop along to our Poel Campus and its special garden.

The Theatre of the Hanseatic City of Wismar is situated on the grounds of Wismar University of Applied Sciences. Some of Wismar University of Applied Sciences’ events also take place here, for example, the matriculation ceremony or the graduation ceremony.

As well as our university library, there is also the Wismar City Library, centrally located in the so-called ‘Zeughaus’.

For a whole weekend, there’s a festival atmosphere at the annual Campus Open Air Wismar. It usually takes place in autumn and is organised by the AStA, the General Students’ Committee of Wismar University of Applied Sciences.

The students’ club Block 17 is independent and non-commercial.
Here, you can not only go out and have a party, but you’re also welcome to get involved.
