In addition to project staff members M. Eng. Jan Bartelt and Dr David Jammer, students David Altmann and Robin Redecker from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science also played a key role in its development. The demonstrator enables the fundamental concepts of Industry 4.0 automation in process engineering – based on the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) and the OPC UA concept – to be tested in a practical laboratory setting.

In addition to presenting the demonstrator, the partners in the project – which was launched in February 2026 – focused on the next steps. They discussed current challenges in providing real-world data from the industrial geothermal plants in Schwerin-Lankow and Neustadt-Glewe. The availability and integration of this real plant data form an important basis for further work on the project.

Another key focus of the meeting was the planned integration of simulation models into the overall GeoTwinFrame infrastructure. The next step is to lay the groundwork for a seamless link between real plant data and simulation-based methods. The aim is to link real operational data and simulation models within the emerging infrastructure, thereby creating new opportunities for the analysis and further development of the plants.

The project meeting therefore served both to jointly assess the progress made to date and to coordinate the next steps in development and integration in concrete terms. The further development of the demonstrator and the planned integration of simulation models will lay the foundations for the continued implementation of the concepts being pursued in the GeoTwinFrame project.
