The first strategy meeting of the members of the Institute for Applied Medical Technology (IAMT) at Wismar University of Applied Scienes marked the official start of a more extensive collaboration in research and development. The head of the newly established institute, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Olaf Simanski, invited members to the kick-off meeting to welcome the interdisciplinary research team for their first professional exchange.

After welcoming remarks by the dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ingo Müller, and the Rector of Wismar University of Applied Scienes, Prof. Dr. jur. Bodo Wiegand-Hoffmeister, the focus was on discussing future strategies and opening up new fields of research. One of the main topics is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine. Among other things, this is to be used in two projects as part of the application-oriented excellence research of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Christoph Hornberger (Target-H) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Krüger.

The programme was supplemented by project presentations by the participants and tours of the laboratories (digital nursing room, camera and simulation laboratory), which provided insights into the existing research infrastructure.
