Sneha Anand is studying for a Master’s degree in ‘Information and Electrical Engineering’ at our Faculty of Engineering. Her outstanding current grade point average of 1.3 and the fact that she is studying in a field dominated by male students prompted the ZONTA Club to present her with this latest award. The 27-year-old comes from the south-western Indian state of Karnataka. Before coming to study in Wismar, she successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at a technical university in her home country, where her work focused, among other things, on environmental monitoring systems.
The acronym STEM Award stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. This prize – initially known as the Zonta Women in Engineering Award – has been awarded annually since 2023 and comes with a cash prize of 500 euros. The Zonta Club Wismar uses this award to honour young women studying engineering at our university who, in addition to achieving excellent grades, demonstrate exceptional commitment to voluntary work.
