It is with deep sadness that we learned of the sudden and unexpected death of our former colleague Dr George F. Page from Liverpool John Moores University in England on 12 February 2026. His death is also a great loss for the Faculty of Engineering at Wismar University of Applied Sciences.
For over 33 years, Dr Page made a special contribution to teaching and research at Wismar University of Applied Sciences and played a key role in shaping international cooperation between our two universities. From 1993 to 2010, he was heavily involved in teaching and research activities in the field of electrical engineering and computer science as a visiting lecturer.
In addition to his participation in joint research projects on applications in automation and control engineering, particularly in the field of fuzzy logic, Dr Page was co-organiser of the International Wismar Automation Symposium AUTSYM.
Through his lectures and his presence, he showed many students at our university the way into various fields of research and promoted student exchanges with Liverpool John Moores University.
With Dr Page's passing, we have lost a highly esteemed colleague and friend, and we will honour his memory.
