Die Geschäftsführerin der Deutschen Botschaft in Montevideo, Dr. Verena Frick (2. v. r.) hat gemeinsam mit der Kulturbeauftragten, Lena Peichl, die Professoren der Hochschule Wismar, Prof. Dr. Gunnar Prause (links) und Prof. Andreas Ahrens getroffen, um über das Potenzial der Zusammenarbeit mit Universitäten in den Bereichen nachhaltige Energie, Technologie und Seehandel zu sprechen.

Prof. Dr Andreas Ahrens and Prof. Dr Gunnar Prause visited three universities and the German Embassy in Uruguay last week.

The visit focused on cooperation with the Universidad Tecnológica (UTEC), with which a cooperation agreement is in place. In future, student exchanges and joint research projects are to be expanded. In addition, discussions took place with the Universidad Católica de Uruguay and the Universidad de Montevideo.

A highlight for the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ahrens, and the Director of the European Project Centre, Prof. Prause, was a meeting at the German Embassy in Montevideo regarding future cooperation between European universities and the MERCOSUR states. The background to this is the growing cooperation between the EU and the MERCOSUR states. With a view to the upcoming EU funding period from 2028, it is expected that international higher education projects between the two regions will increase significantly.
