The Department of Maritime Studies, Systems Engineering and Logistics (SAL) is located with its own campus in the seaside resort of Warnemünde, the northern district of the Hanseatic city of Rostock. With a population of over 200,000, Rostock is not only the largest city in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, but also a major economic performance factor. Rostock has also been a university city since 1419 and offers approximately 15,000 students a modern, diverse and academically successful educational environment.

Technical College of Maritime Studies

The Technical College of Maritime Studies as part of the "Vocational School of the Hanseatic and University City Rostock" offers in close cooperation with the Department of Maritime Studies, Systems Engineering and Logistics a wide range of courses that meet the internationally required standard of the STCW and above correspond beyond. With a successful degree from the Technical College of Maritime Studies, there is the opportunity to obtain a certificate of approval as a nautical or technical officer on watch. As required internationally, training is subject to a quality assurance system. It has therefore been certified in accordance with the ISO 9000: 2001 standard since 2001.

The Dep. of Maritime Studies, Systems Engineering and Logistics conducts successful research, not only in the maritime field, and often works on research topics together with international cooperation partners. Measured by the amount of third-party funding acquired, research at the Dep. of Maritime Studies, Systems Engineering and Logistics is among the top in research at Wismar University of Applied Sciences.
